Ukraine
I have no idea what is happening behind the scenes in the U.S. House of Representatives. But, I do know that the U.S. Senate in a 70-29 bipartisan vote passed a bill three full weeks ago on February 13, 2024 that included funding to help Ukraine fight off their Russian aggressor. I also know that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has not put this bill up for a vote of the full House. I believe that every day we delay helping our partner defend their homeland and their democracy is a day that puts Ukraine and ultimately the rest of the world in jeopardy.
If you believe as I do, I urge you to contact your elected Representative in the House of Representatives. If you find yourself in a situation such as mine where my district currently has no representation in the House, then please call Speaker Johnson’s office (202-225-2777) and tell them how you feel. Go on record! These offices keep tallies. I believe these calls do matter and, really, our voices are all that should matter. We have elected these people to represent us. Our representatives need to know how we feel.
I painted this tribute to Ukraine two years ago when Russia invaded Ukraine for the second time.
I hope you like my painting and I hope you will pick up the phone.
